George Scott, Jr.
George Scott Jr. was born April 21, 1955 to George Scott Sr. and Florence Scott in Lula, MS. He was the second of eight siblings. Georgeโs walk of Faith in Christ started at an early age. As an adult, he was appointed to serve as Deacon at New Morning Star Church where he served God diligently. He loved supporting ministries in his community, one of which was teaching Sunday School at his home church. He loved bringing the Word of God to life and teaching the principles and truths of Christ.
I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
After graduating from Coahoma Agricultural High School (now known as Coahoma Early College High School), he furthered his education at Coahoma Junior College, graduating in 1975. George met his beloved โRoseโJohnson and later married her on June 22, 1975. Both shared a love for God and family and were most often referred to by their church family as โa Teddy-Bear and a Roseโ; two of the most precious gifts God could ever bless a ministry with. Through this blessed union, Rose gave birth to two daughters, Rosaline and Tiffany Scott (Galmore). George was a proud father and spent much of his time with his girls. Many years later, his youngest daughter gave birth to his beloved grandson, Joshua Galmore. George cherished him and the two of them were inseparable.
George was a community leader and believed in hard work and taking care of his family. After working for Pillowtex for more than 30 years, he finally retired. He spent his time with family and friends, making weekly visits to his elderly mother and spending quality time with his grandson.
He departed this life December 28, 2021 in his home. His father, George Scott Sr., and sister, JoAnn Scott, preceded him in death. George Scott Jr. was a husband, father, son, brother, grandfather, friend and lifelong servant of the Most High who touched the lives of everyone he encountered.ย His infectious smile and fun-loving spirit will forever remain in the hearts of his family and friends.
He leaves to cherish his memories his Mother, Florence Scott; Wife Rose Scott; two daughters Rosaline Scott Shields (James) of Southaven, MS; Tiffany Galmore (Marcus) of Coahoma, MS; Grandson, Joshua Galmore; One brother, Robert Earl (Josie) Scott of Helena, Arkansas; Five sisters, Fannie McMahan, Maxine Scott, and Barbara Fletcher all of Lula, MS,ย Linda Joiner of Tunica, MS and Regina (Kevin) Wiley of Helena, AR.
